Assistant Estimator required to work with a main contractor in their London head office. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their estimating career to gain experience across a range of tenders, support senior colleagues, and develop their commercial knowledge within a busy pre-construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation and submission of tender documents, including compiling inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and programmes of work.
  • Assisting in the coordination of tender information from various departments.
  • Working alongside Estimators and Senior Management on project submissions.
  • Researching and identifying subcontractors and suppliers to support the estimating process.
  • Reviewing and comparing quotations received from the supply chain.
  • Supporting the assessment of project risks (financial, technical, operational).
  • Attending estimating meetings and occasionally visiting site when required.

You Will Need

  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a similar construction-related field (or working towards one).
  • 1–3 years' experience in an estimating or commercial support role, ideally with a main contractor.
  • A basic understanding of tendering processes and commercial principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and supply chain partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take direction in a fast-paced team environment.
