Job summary

Moon Recruitment in Rugby seeks a joinery-focused Assistant Estimator to help prepare estimates for bespoke joinery projects. No prior estimator experience is required, with emphasis on commercial awareness, IT skills and ambition to progress.

You will work with commercial and operations teams, using AI-powered estimating software to prepare competitive quotations and learn joinery manufacturing processes. Training and accelerated progression await the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction management, quantity surveying, commercial management, engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of two years' experience in construction, manufacturing or related sector.
• Experience in procurement, quantity surveying, commercial management, construction coordination, manufacturing, supply/install or joinery.
• Strong IT skills with interest in AI/digital tools.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Assist with estimates, quotations and tender submissions.
• Analyse material, manufacturing, labour and installation costs.

The Role

About You

We are not necessarily looking for an experienced Estimator. More importantly, we are seeking someone with strong commercial awareness, excellent IT skills and the potential to develop.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or another relevant discipline.
• At least two years' experience working within construction, manufacturing or a related industry.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Procurement or purchasing
  • Quantity surveying
  • Commercial management
  • Construction project coordination
  • Manufacturing or production
  • Supply and installation
  • Joinery or interior fit-out
  • Estimating or cost management
• Strong IT skills, with an interest in or practical experience of AI software and digital tools.
• Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive attitude and genuine ambition to progress.

Experience in joinery or estimating would be advantageous, but is certainly not essential.
