Trainee Estimator / Estimator – Bedford

A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or Estimator to join their commercial team. The Role – Trainee Estimator / Estimator

This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in:

• Reviewing drawings and specifications
• Quantity take-offs
• Preparing estimates and costings
• Pricing bills of quantities and producing lump-sum tenders
• Supplier and subcontractor enquiries
• Comparing quotations and supporting procurement
• Assisting with tender submissionsSupporting contract administration and commercial reporting
• Carrying out site surveys 1-2 times per week
• Working on projects requiring security clearance

You will typically manage 7-8 live tenders at any one time, valued between £50,000 and £1.5m.

The Right Person – Trainee Estimator / Estimator

• 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths
• Must be able to drive
• Good attention to detail
• Able to juggle multiple tenders and deadlines in a high-pressure environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Able to work independently and within a team
• Experience in negotiation is beneficial
• Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided)

Working Hours

8.30am - 5.00pm. Hybrid working available after a training period.
