Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Graduate Estimator / Trainee Estimator to join our civil engineering and groundworks team near Brands Hatch.

You’ll be trained while working on tenders for major projects, developing cost estimates and learning estimation workflows. This graduate programme offers structured training, exposure to measurement, tender preparation and cost control, with career progression within a reputable contractor.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field preferred but not essential.
• Strong numeracy and confidence with figures.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a trainee environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Estimating team with preparation of competitive tenders for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
• Support measurement and take-off of quantities from drawings and specifications.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and project requirements.
• Assist with preparation of cost estimates for labour, plant, materials and subcontractor works.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support preparation and submission of tender documents.
• Liaise with commercial and operational teams to understand project costs and delivery requirements.
• Develop knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads and infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation.

Bennett & Game Recruitment are proud to be working with a well-established and highly respected Civil Engineering and Groundworks Contractor who are seeking a Graduate Estimator / Trainee Estimator to join their growing commercial team. Established for over 30 years, this privately owned contractor specialises in infrastructure, groundworks and civil engineering works for major UK residential developers. Operating across approximately 30 live sites at any one time, the business has built an outstanding reputation for quality delivery, staff retention and long-term client relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or numerically minded individual looking to establish a long-term career in construction estimating. Full training and support will be provided, with the opportunity to develop commercial and technical knowledge while working alongside experienced Estimators on a variety of groundwork and infrastructure projects.

Graduate Estimator / Trainee Estimator Job Requirements

• Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with figures are essential
• Good attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem-solving
• Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• A genuine interest in developing a career within construction estimating
• Previous experience within construction, groundworks or civil engineering would be advantageous but is not essential
• Willingness to learn and develop within a supportive commercial team
