Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd in Glasgow is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager to lead a skilled maintenance team within a busy manufacturing environment. You will oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance, plan PPMs, and drive reliability improvements to minimise downtime, while supporting production targets.

The role demands a strong leadership presence, practical PLC experience, and a solid grasp of health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical fault finding.
• Experience coordinating planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team of Maintenance Engineers.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and engineering compliance.

Responsibilities

• Previous experience working as an Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Manager or Assistant Engineering Manager in the UK.
• Ability to support the Engineering Manager with departmental performance, engineering KPIs and maintenance strategies.
• Experience identifying recurring breakdowns, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term engineering solutions.
• Strong understanding of continuous improvement, machinery reliability and reducing production downtime.
• Ability to prioritise engineering workloads and coordinate maintenance activities to meet production requirements.
• Experience supporting engineering projects, equipment upgrades and site improvements.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
