Job summary

Equans is seeking an Assistant Electrical Technical Manager to join the team at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. This permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) involves inspecting, testing, certifying and ensuring compliance of LV electrical installations across the Portsmouth University Hospital estate.

You’ll support the Technical Manager with HV/LV infrastructure operations, follow HTM guidance and BS 7671 standards, and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practice.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2391 inspection & testing (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and undertake periodic inspection and testing of LV installations across hospital estates
  • Produce EICRs, Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Certificates
  • Maintain records in CAFM system and ensure statutory compliance documentation
  • Support 24-hour maintenance and ensure safe systems of work in line with HTMs and legislation
  • Provide technical support for HV/LV distribution systems and oversee contractors

Job description

Equans is looking for an Assistant Electrical Technical Manager to join the team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.The post holder will undertake electrical inspection, testing, certification and compliance activities across the Portsmouth University Hospital estate, ensuring all LV electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.Working within the Estates Team, the post holder will support the Technical Manager in the efficient operation and maintenance of the hospital’s HV and LV electrical infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on carrying out periodic inspection and testing in accordance with City & Guilds 2391, BS 7671, HTM guidance and statutory regulations. The role will also contribute to the promotion of good engineering practices and support healthcare engineering compliance across the estate.This role is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical engineer to step up.
