Job summary

STRABAG is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Superintendent to support safety-critical electrical distribution across surface, tunnels and shaft works on a Manchester project. You will assist with design, procurement, commissioning and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety systems and RAMS requirements.

The role requires collaboration with construction teams, procurement, safety and planning. A relevant electrical qualification and experience in tunnelling environments are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the scope specification of underground and surface temporary electrical distribution and all electrical equipment.
• An accepted professional electrical qualification; Degree or HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering, City & Guilds, NVQ.
• Qualification in Construction Management & Safety Management. Can follow if newly graduated.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of industry regulations for tunnelling electrical equipment and services.
• Experience of a self-delivery model of temporary electrical systems (desired, not required).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Electrical Engineer with safety critical role scope, compliance, specification, procurement, and maintenance of electrical equipment and distribution across Surface, Tunnels and Shaft works.
• Ensure compliance with Strabag Safe systems of works.
• Assist with equipment work package specifications, procurement, electrical services specifications, and single line drawings; site set‑up and distribution sizing.
• Assist in producing RAMS, SSOW, and Task Briefings.
• Implement planned maintenance and oversee spare parts management.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance (planned & unplanned).
• Liaise with tunnel construction, electrical, procurement, safety and planning teams.

• Assist the Senior Electrical Engineer / Electrical Superintendent with the following; Safety critical role scope / compliance / specification / procurement / safe installation / maintenance of all Electrical equipment and electrical distribution, Surface, Tunnels and Shaft works – Temp site services and then tunnel construction works.
• Compliance with Strabag Safe systems of works.
• Electrical Engineer will be assisting with the following activities; Equipment work package specifications & procurement / electrical services specifications & single line drawings / site set-up / electrical distribution design and cable sizing / SCL & TBM Plant assembly (inc. FAT/SAT/Commissioning) / SCL & TBM Plant operation and maintenance / surface and tunnel conveyor (assembly/commissioning/operation) / Shotcrete Batching plant / Gantry cranes / MSVs / excavators/dumper/truck-mixers/shotcrete pumps/sprayers /surface & tunnel HV/LV distribution / lighting systems / communication systems.
• Assist with the Production and communication of the Electrical Safety Management Plan and Electrical Operating Safety Procedures, including; Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS), Task Briefings.
• Implement systems and processes to ensure maximum availability of equipment and safe systems of work at all times.
• Understand the electrical distribution requirements across all shaft / tunnel construction sites.
• Implement a planned preventative maintenance scheme and oversee the spare parts management.
• Maintain all records of inspections and maintenance (planned & unplanned).
• Close liaison with the immediate tunnel construction team, electrical team, procurement team, safety team and planning team on requirements and programme.
