Salary: £51,700 - £61,467 (pro-rata for the duration of the contract) depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: 12-month fixed-term contract/attachment (part-time - 17.5 hours per week)
Location: BBC South West, Plymouth. This is a hybrid role with a balance of office and home working.

Main Responsibilities

As Assistant Editor, you will demonstrate strong editorial judgment and adaptability in handling breaking stories.

• Have experience in multi-platform journalism, ensuring high standards across all media.
• Build key relationships externally with contributors and internally with teams, focusing on staff development. Proven leadership and approachability are essential.
• Collaborate regionally and with other BBC locations to represent all areas served.

• Deep knowledge of news, current affairs, and regional stories relevant to the South West.

• Experience in line management and team collaboration.
