Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Construction/Facilities Project Manager for Universal United Kingdom Resort (UUKR) to lead day-to-day management and development of major land, attractions, and facilities. You will coordinate design decisions, manage budgets, schedules, and teams to open projects within scope.

Responsibilities include supervising Architects/Engineers and other specialists, ensuring safety and quality, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field preferred.
• License in Architecture or Engineering preferred.
• Experience in facility maintenance with specific training and experience.
• Supervises members of the facility project team.
• Project team includes Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Schedulers, Estimators and Technical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage design decisions and construction document production; minimise change orders during construction phases; effectively manage changes in the project; maintain schedule and budget.
• Review all scope of work and design for reliability and safety of attractions, facilities, resorts and themed environments.
• Monitor project budget within the job scope and schedule within approved objectives for attractions and refurbishments.
• Review development criteria to ensure delivery is correct and complete.
• Direct procurement, selection, contracting and performance of architectural, engineering and technical designers.
• Hire and develop the necessary project team for implementation and opening of attractions.
• Report on project budget, schedule and progress to upper management; maintain documentation for successful completion.
• Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per NBCUniversal policy.

Job Description

Job Summary

For Universal United Kingdom Resort (UUKR), this position is responsible for the day-to-day management and development of all construction and/or renovations of major land, attraction, resorts, walkways, and waterways, back of house support buildings, parking structures and any new facilities. This will include planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, delivery, and commissioning required to open the project within the assigned budget, quality, schedule, creative and guest experience targets.

Major Responsibilities

Construction/Fabrication/Implementation

• Responsible for coordinating and managing design decisions and construction document production; avoiding contract claims and disputes; minimising change orders during construction phases; effectively managing changes in the project; eliminating interface disruptions between project participants; maintaining, and where possible improving the project schedule and budget; ensuring quality design and construction work; emphasising “hands-on” management of field operations; establishing and maintaining a competent and experienced staff; implementing efficient and timely document control.
• Reviewing all scope of work as well as design of all attractions, facilities, resorts and themed environments for reliability and safety.

Budget/Scheduling

• Responsible for daily monitoring of project budget within the job scope, and schedule within the targeted objectives set forth during project approval for new attractions, facilities, resorts and themed environments, as well as refurbishments and enhancements.
• Review development criteria to make sure projects are delivered correctly and completely.

Creative/Design/Architectural Management

• Responsible for the qualification, procurement, selection, contracting and performance of all Architectural, Engineering and Technical designers hired to complete the facility design phase of the project. Direct the successful delivery of projects while maintaining creative/architectural intent within the established budget and schedule and while meeting the initial objectives set forth during the concept development.

Personnel Management

• Responsible for the hiring and selection of the necessary project team required to implement the project. Responsible for the performance of each of the project team individuals as it relates to the successful opening of new attractions. Responsible for the development and growth of project team.

Project Reporting

• Responsible for the management, tracking and reporting of all the necessary project components inclusive of budget, schedule and progress of the project to upper management. Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation necessary to ensure a successful project completion within the targeted budget and schedule.

• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
• License in Architecture or Engineering is preferred.
• Experience required in facility maintenance field with specific training and experience with facility maintenance and inspection; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Supervises members of the facility project team. Size of the facility project team varies from team to team. The project team consists of Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Schedulers, Estimators, Technical personnel ranging from 3 – 15 people in addition to the management of outside Architects, Construction Management, Scheduling, Estimating, Technical, Import and Procurement consultants.
