Job summary

NBCUniversal’s Universal United Kingdom Resort (UUKR) seeks an engineering professional to contribute to technical management for Ride/Show systems, including Set/Scenic elements and props. The role covers specification, bid/award, design, production, installation, and acceptance testing.

The successful candidate will support the Ride/Show teams, review design documents, manage vendors through the lifecycle, and ensure safety and quality compliance across projects within the UUKR portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in technical field (e.g., Technical Theatre, Architecture, Set/Scenic Design, Building Construction) or equivalent.
• Experience in theme park technical/engineering roles supporting scenic elements is required.
• Project experience in entertainment/theme park industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Ride/Show teams with engineering calculations, design and drafting.
• Review vendor design documents and test plans and validate results.
• Edit and update engineering specifications for scenic system delivery.
• Assist in managing vendors through bidding, design, manufacturing, testing, and installation.
• Develop and execute test protocols and witness testing as assigned.
• Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities and NBCUniversal policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

For Universal United Kingdom Resort (UUKR), this position contributes to technical management, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. Responsible for supporting the successful specification, bid/award, design, production, installation, and acceptance testing of Ride and/or Show systems, to include Set/Scenic, or Props.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides engineering technical (calculation, design, drafting, research) assistance to the Ride/Show teams in support of scenic scopes of work.
• Reviews portions of vendor-provided design review documents, including drawing review, component selection review, calculation review, test plan review, test results review, or review of other deliverable items as specified by engineering management.
• Edits and updates Ride/Show engineering specifications as specifically assigned by Ride/Show engineering management in support of scenic system delivery.
• Assists Ride/Show team in managing vendors through the process of bidding, designing, manufacturing, testing, shipping, installation, start up, and commissioning of show action equipment.
• Reviews, edits, or develops test protocols, procedures, and plans. Executes witness or approve testing and test results as assigned and authorised by Engineering & Safety management.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in applicable technical field required (examples include, but are not limited to, Technical Theatre, Architecture, Set/Scenic Design, Building Construction) or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience; Advanced Degree preferred.
• Experience in direct theme park specific technical/engineering roles supporting scenic elements required (examples include, but are not limited to, rockwork, scenic facades, scenic attractions other visual scenics, artificial foliage, and themed concrete plaster) or similar experience in related technical field.
• Project experience within the entertainment/theme park industry preferred. Any experience in theme park development, construction, show and ride systems design or fabrication is preferred.

A successful candidate should be able to perform the following to include, but not be limited to:

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
