Job summary

Quest Employment in Wellingborough is seeking an experienced Assistant Depot Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy warehouse and transport operation.

This hands-on leadership role involves working with the Depot Manager to ensure safety, efficiency and high standards, leading teams, coordinating drivers and monitoring stock. You’ll assist with recruitment, inductions and agency staffing, and drive continuous improvement across KPIs.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics, warehousing or transport management.
• Ability to supervise and lead teams effectively.
• Strong communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills and understanding of warehouse safety.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily running of the depot and warehouse.

Assistant Depot Manager

Location: Wellingborough

We're looking for an experienced Assistant Depot Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy warehouse and transport operation.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work alongside the Depot Manager to keep the depot operating safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. From leading teams and solving operational challenges to supporting drivers and ensuring excellent customer service, you'll play a key part in the success of the depot.

If you're currently a Warehouse Supervisor, Transport Supervisor or Team Leader looking for more responsibility, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting the daily running of the depot and warehouse

• Leading, coaching and motivating operational teams

• Assisting with transport planning and driver management

• Monitoring stock control and warehouse operations

• Ensuring Health & Safety and compliance standards are maintained

• Investigating operational issues and implementing solutions

• Supporting recruitment, inductions and agency staffing

• Assisting with performance management and employee development

• Monitoring KPIs and helping drive continuous improvement

• Stepping in for the Depot Manager when required

We're looking for someone who:

• Has supervisory or management experience within logistics, warehousing or transport

• Is a confident people manager with strong communication skills

• Can make decisions under pressure and solve problems quickly

• Has good IT skills, including Microsoft Office

• Understands warehouse operations, transport planning and Health & Safety

• Leads by example and enjoys being out on the warehouse floor
