Job summary

UBT in Plymouth is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead the operation, drive excellence, and embed best practice as the business expands with a new facility. You will shape processes, culture and performance in a fast-moving environment.

You will report to the Operations Manager, lead Goods In, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and related production activities, and build a high-performing team focused on safety, accuracy and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading warehouse or distribution operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, stock control, inventory management and best practice.
• Experience implementing change and improving operational performance.
• Hands-on leadership with a visible presence on the warehouse floor.
• Excellent planning, organisational and people management skills.
• Confidence using ERP/WMS or business systems to drive performance.
• Ability to balance customer service, cost control, quality and safety priorities.

Responsibilities

• Leading the day-to-day warehouse operation across Goods In, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, dispatch and returns
• Managing labour allocation, workflow planning and daily operational priorities
• Driving exceptional customer service through accurate and on-time order fulfilment
• Supporting and leading a major warehouse relocation project, including layout design, stock migration and operational readiness
• Maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy through effective stock control and cycle counting procedures
• Managing warehouse-linked production and customisation workflows, ensuring customer deadlines are consistently achieved
• Building, developing and motivating a high-performing warehouse team
• Driving a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
• Championing health, safety, quality and compliance across the operation
• Producing operational reports and using data to identify improvements and drive performance
• Controlling labour, overtime and operational costs while maintaining service excellence

With significant expansion plans in place and a new warehouse facility being introduced to support future growth, we are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to take ownership of the operation and help shape the next chapter of success.

This is far more than a traditional warehouse management role. You will play a key part in designing and embedding new processes, implementing best practice, and ensuring a smooth transition into a larger operational environment. You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact while building a safe, scalable, and highly efficient operation.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead all warehouse and warehouse-linked production activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, stock accuracy, productivity, and continuous improvement.

About You

We are keen to speak with experienced Warehouse Managers, Distribution Managers, Operations Managers or Logistics Managers who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience leading warehouse or distribution operations within a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, stock control, inventory management and operational best practice
• Experience implementing change and improving operational performance
• A hands-on leadership style with a visible presence on the warehouse floor
• Excellent planning, organisational and people management skills
• Confidence using ERP, WMS or business systems to drive performance
• The ability to balance customer service, cost control, quality and safety priorities
• A proactive approach to problem solving with a strong "get things done" mentality

• Highly Desirable Experience managing a warehouse move, site relocation or operational transformation project
• Experience within manufacturing, fulfilment, workwear, PPE, customised products or value-added services
• IOSH Managing Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• FLT licence and materials handling knowledge
