Abbey Hill Academy & College is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Department Lead to join our primary team in the upper primary department. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner, line-manage identified staff, and teach in a KS2 class, supporting the Assistant Principal in day-to-day management.

We are looking for a candidate with Qualified Teacher Status, leadership experience, and a strong commitment to teaching children with SEND in a special school setting, ensuring high educational

Qualifications

• Has Qualified Teacher Status.
• Recent leadership and management experience.
• Experience teaching in a special school setting.
• Extensive experience working with students with SEND.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Committed to getting the best outcomes for all students and promoting the ethos and values of the academy.

Responsibilities

• Support the Assistant Principal in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the upper primary department.
• Take specific responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management and organisation of the upper primary department.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the upper primary classes.
• Support the development and delivery of a high-quality curriculum that is ambitious and meets the needs of all learners.
• Effectively manage resources allocated to main pathways, including staffing, budgets, and equipment.
