Job summary

Care Dorset Limited is seeking a part-time cook to prepare, cook and serve meals in a care setting in Wareham. You will assist with external meals for meals-on-wheels and help ensure quality, cost-efficient use of resources, while maintaining high hygiene standards.

The role runs 25 hours per week, with shifts 8am–1pm or 3pm and alternate weekends. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Prepare meals in accordance with approved menus.
• Assist with external meals and meals-on-wheels production.
• Check deliveries for quality and quantity.
• Maintain cost-efficient use of materials and equipment.
• Clean kitchen areas to Environmental Health standards.
• Working hours and part-time schedule; visa sponsorship not available.

Job description

• To prepare, cook and serve meals and snacks, in accordance with the menus provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with menus approved.
• Assist in the preparation and handling of any external meals, including pre-packed frozen meals, for meals-on-wheels delivery and the production of meals for other units.
• Check where appropriate deliveries for quality, quantity and description.
• Ensure the correct and economical use of materials and equipment, to achieve maximum cost efficiency, quality and safety.
• Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment to Environmental Health standards.
• Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order
• This is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week.
• Working hours 8am - 1pm/3pm with alternate weekends
