Job summary

Belfast City Council is recruiting an Assistant Community Development Officer (Social Care Qualified) for Belfast city centre. This temporary 12‑week role offers 37 hours per week with some flexible patterns, based at Linenhall Street. Pay is £14.35 per hour.

You will help plan and deliver community programmes, support volunteers, assist with events, funding applications and reports, and foster strong partnerships while promoting inclusion and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Care or Community Work qualification, or equivalent.
• At least one year’s experience organising and delivering community development programmes.
• Experience supporting and supervising volunteers and working with community groups.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, organisation and delivery of community development programmes and activities.
• Work with community groups, volunteers and local organisations to build capacity.
• Assist with community events, funding applications and reporting.
• Provide administrative support and maintain accurate records.
• Build partnerships with statutory, voluntary and community organisations.
• Promote equality, safeguarding and inclusive practice across service delivery.
• Help ensure community centres are welcoming and safe environments.
