Job summary

Network Rail in Swindon (with Bristol as an alternative) is seeking an Assistant Commercial Manager to support commercial activities across multiple projects. The role involves assisting in payment valuation, certification, reporting and procurement administration, ensuring compliance with contract obligations.

The successful candidate will have basic commercial awareness, ability to meet deadlines, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Ability to work to deadlines.
Basic level of commercial awareness.
Basic negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making.
Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software.
Able to effectively communicate at the appropriate levels, both internally and externally.
Membership of an appropriate professional organisation, or working towards membership.
Experience of using electronic sourcing and/or procurement systems.

Responsibilities

Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the commercial value of payments, monitoring the correct certification of works prior to authorisation in accordance with contractual obligations.
Assist with the reporting on all commercial aspects of allocated projects.
Assist in the preparation of contract specification and pre-tender documentation.
Assist with the general procurement/commercial management on a variety of contract categories.
