Balfour Beatty Rail in Swindon is seeking a permanent Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial work across the Wales and Western project portfolio. The role collaborates with the regional programme director and finance manager as part of the leadership team.

You will review tenders, prepare target costs, coordinate responses to programme issues and oversee earned-value reporting, cost/value reconciliations, and procurement, representing financial and contractual interests at progress

• Background in cost control and commercial governance.

Balfour Beatty Rail is seeking a permanent Senior Commercial Manager in Swindon to lead commercial work across its Wales and Western project portfolio. The business unit delivers civil engineering, building, permanent-way and signalling works. The role works with the regional programme director and finance manager as part of the leadership team.

• preparing target costs
• coordinating responses to programme issues
• overseeing earned-value reporting

The manager is responsible for monthly cost-value reconciliations and associated reports, supply-chain and procurement arrangements, and representation of financial and contractual interests at progress meetings. The role also covers commercial risk and opportunity, project cost reporting and disallowed costs. It links surveying work with buying, accounts, planning and estimating functions.

The employer prefers a quantity-surveying degree or equivalent experience and a background in rail or civil engineering. Experience of NEC Options A, C and E is requested, together with projects exceeding GBP 50 million and programmes involving several subprojects across a large area. Professional membership or fellowship is desirable, as are leadership, communication and customer-management skills.
