Salary: £28,000 per annum depending on experience

Location: Manchester

Contract Type: Permanent

Office Requirement: A minimum of 3 days a week

28 days annual leave + bank holidays

Transpennine Route Upgrade

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is the largest Infrastructure project in the North delivering £10.7 billion Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.

Stretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 11 level crossings.

Proposed improvements as will deliver a hard-working, reliable railway for passengers, allowing for trains with more seats, more services and faster journey times.

Brief Description

Do you have experience, or an interest in Commercial Management? Do you want to join a team that is responsible for providing efficient commercial services as part of a fast paced, exciting Programme? We are looking for colleagues that have the following skills and experience.

Customer Service - Interacting with our customer groups across the Programme Management Office (PMO) and Development teams.

Organisational Skills - we are looking for people that will be able to manage all our customer groups on the Programme.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) Programme is a major multi-billion-pound upgrade of the railway infrastructure across from Manchester to York.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join the TRU C&P commercial team in providing support to the TRU Programme. You will have an engaging and positive attitude and will thrive on delivering quality outputs with great attention to detail.

Assist the Commercial team in pre and post contract activities and evaluating and agreeing the value of payments and variations for a variety of works throughout the Route. This role will be supporting the Development and Programme Management Office portfolios.

About the role (External)

1. Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the commercial value of payments, monitoring the correct certification of works prior to authorisation in accordance with contractual obligations.

2. Assist with the reporting on all commercial aspects of allocated projects.

3. Assist in the preparation of contract specification and pre-tender documentation.

4. Assist with the general procurement/commercial management on a variety of contract categories.

We need you to have:

• Ability to work to deadlines.

• Good problem-solving skills.

• Basic level of commercial awareness

• Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software.

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Able to effectively communicate at the appropriate levels, both internally and externally

• Membership of an appropriate professional organisation, or working towards membership
