Assistant Claims Manager - Motor - Personal Injury

As an Assistant Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing a small claims team within the motor claims department and supporting the Motor Claims Manager in daily operations, including workload management and stakeholder engagement. You will proactively manage a caseload, guide and develop team members, and lead by example in technical expertise and audit standards.

Collaboration is key. You will work with Claims Leadership, AXA Group Management, underwriters, actuaries, legal, and other departments to deliver excellent customer service. As the role evolves with the business, continuous improvement in service standards is expected. You will be an integral part of the Motor Claims Department, managing a team of Personal Injury Claim Handlers.

Discover your responsibilities

  1. Manage a portfolio of complex claims following global guidelines.
  2. Oversee, guide, and develop team members and their claims portfolios.
  3. Manage relationships with key partners, ensuring quality and contractual compliance.
  4. Handle stakeholder management, including audit teams and delegated authorities.
  5. Manage your own claims portfolio and oversee team claims, including trend analysis and large loss reporting.
  6. Support relationships with brokers, clients, and underwriters, including presentations and training.
  7. Ensure adherence to group standards and improve documentation and processes.
  8. Enhance relationships with delegated partners to improve service delivery.
  9. Report on claims statistics and participate in initiatives to improve processes.
  10. Support underwriting and business development activities related to claims trends.
  11. Manage external vendor relationships and oversee shared services to maintain high service levels.
  12. Maintain reporting, controls, and compliance with AXA XL claim processes.
  13. Manage litigation strategies for complex claims, ensuring local adherence.
  14. Allocate resources effectively across the team considering expertise and workload.
  15. Project manage key initiatives within the product line.
  16. Participate in quality review processes and process improvements.
  17. Deliver excellent customer service to policyholders and brokers, seeking continual improvement.
  18. Focus on team performance, development, and coaching.
  19. Participate in leadership meetings and global projects.
  20. Manage team absence during manager’s leave.
  21. Ensure compliance with AXA Group Standards and adapt to changing expectations.

You will report to the Motor Claims Manager.

Required skills and abilities

  • ACII or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not essential.
  • Experience handling Motor Personal Injury and general Motor claims.
  • Influencing and leadership experience in the market.
  • Knowledge of UK legal framework.
  • Experience with market initiatives, change management, project delivery, and audits.
  • Ability to coach, communicate effectively, and manage conflicts.
  • Strong organizational and independent working skills.
