Job summary

BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness is recruiting an Assistant Chief Engineer (Mech) for Secondary Propulsion within the Dreadnought Programme. The role acts as Technical Authority and leads cross‑functional design reviews across multiple subsystems.

The successful candidate will have Chartered status, a technical lead background, and experience with propulsion systems. Hybrid working and relocation support are offered for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
• Chartered status is essential.
• Knowledge of pressurised steam rotary propulsion systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities for Secondary Propulsion ACE to satisfy requirements.
• Collaborate with ESO and Joint Design Authority to guide engineering delivery teams.
• Chair reviews and support System/Whole Boat integration reviews to certify design.
