BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness is recruiting an Assistant Chief Engineer (Mech) for Secondary Propulsion within the Dreadnought Programme. The role acts as Technical Authority and leads cross‑functional design reviews across multiple subsystems.
The successful candidate will have Chartered status, a technical lead background, and experience with propulsion systems. Hybrid working and relocation support are offered for eligible applicants.

The Engineering Function and Dreadnought Programme within Maritime Submarines is keen to present this progression opportunity for an established and professionally recognised engineer with Chartered status, to take on the role of Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) for the Mechanical discipline.
The Secondary Propulsion ACE within the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) acts as the Technical Authority (delegated through the Product Technical Authority in accordance with TM 047) for the Platform and Secondary Propulsion Major Systems as well as acting on behalf of the Whole Boat Technical Authority from a whole boat integrated product perspective.

SSNA is the replacement submarine to the Astute class, and is the third major submarine programme being undertaken for the Royal Navy. SSNA will be the largest Attack submarine ever built for the Royal Navy and it is the core submarine at the heart of the AUKUS tri‑national security pact that will deliver world class capability in the late 2030s and beyond.
