Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 is highly desirable.

• Fast-paced kitchen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef Manager with day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Plan, prepare and serve healthy, high-quality meals.
• Supervise and support the catering team.
• Assist with stock, ordering and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are always met.
• Maintain good food quality, portions and presentation.
• Cover for the Chef Manager when required.

Assistant Chef Manager, you'll be supporting the Chef Manager helping to prepare and serve nutritious food, while working as part of a team to deliver a great lunch service.

Let's talk about the role of an Assistant Chef Manager:

Support the Chef Manager with the day-to-day running of the kitchen

Help plan, prepare and serve healthy, high-quality meals

Supervise and support the catering team

Assist with stock, ordering and kitchen supplies

Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are always met

Maintain good food quality, portions and presentation

Cover for the Chef Manager when required

About the Ideal Assistant Chef Manager:

Committed to safeguarding children and young people

NVQ Level 2/3 is highly desirable

A supportive team player who can step up to lead when required

Well-organised, with the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen

Confident assisting with stock control, ordering, and daily operations

Good understanding of food safety, allergens, and compliance standards

Strong communicator, able to work effectively with the team and wider stakeholders

Proactive, reliable, and hands‑on in supporting kitchen operations
