Job summary

Elliott Hudson College is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Catering Manager to support the in-house catering service, delivering high quality, nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors. You will help manage day-to-day operations, food safety, hygiene and customer service in a busy school kitchen.

Working with the Catering Manager, you will supervise staff, assist with stock control, ordering and food preparation while promoting healthy eating and a positive dining environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a busy catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience preparing and serving food to a consistently high standard.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards and HACCP principles.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to motivate and work effectively with a catering team.
• Experience of stock control, ordering and monitoring food supplies.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness.
• Experience of allergen management and food safety record keeping.
• Positive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Willingness to achieve Level 2 Food Safety/ Food Hygiene qualification.
• Experience within a school or education setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Catering Manager with day-to-day operations of the academy kitchen and dining facilities.
• Assist with food production, service, stock control, ordering and food safety compliance.
• Supervise catering staff and maintain a positive, efficient working environment.
• Deliver a high-quality food offer and promote healthy eating within an educational setting.
