Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Campus Security Manager to support a 24/7 security operation protecting students, staff, and visitors at the University of Gloucestershire campuses in Cheltenham/Cotswolds. You will lead operational teams, coordinate rosters, and act in emergencies with liaison to services.

The role requires a SIA Door Supervisor licence and a CCTV Licence (or willingness to obtain), plus a full UK driving licence and on-call availability.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security operations with supervisory responsibility.
  • Ability to manage incidents in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong communication, reporting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the security team delivering 24/7 operations.
  • Manage daily operations including staffing, deployment and rota coordination.
  • Act as contact during emergencies and liaise with emergency services.
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations and evidence handling.
  • Support safeguarding and major university events.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and support staff development.
  • Deputise for Campus Security Manager when required.
  • Utilise MS Office for reporting and admin tasks.

About The Role:

WORKING DAYS - This is a permanent, full-time role (45 hours per week, planned across varying days and times), with participation on an on-call rota approximately one week in two. There will be the requirement to occasionally cover a shift should the need arise due to sickness or other issues and no other cover is available.

Assistant Campus Security Manager

We are seeking a proactive, people-focused Assistant Campus Security Manager to support the leadership of a 24/7 security operation protecting students, staff, visitors, and the wider University estate.

About The Role

Reporting to the Campus Security Manager, you will help lead operational teams to deliver a responsive, high-quality, and customer-focused security service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the security team in delivering 24/7 operations
  • Manage daily operations including staffing, resource deployment, and rota coordination
  • Act as point of contact during emergencies and critical incidents, including escalation and liaison with emergency services
  • Oversee incident management systems, ensuring accurate reporting, investigations, and evidence handling (CCTV and statements)
  • Support safeguarding, welfare incidents, and major university events (e.g. Open Days, protests)
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and statutory requirements, and support staff performance, training, and development
  • Act as deputy for the Campus Security Manager when required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages such as Excel & Word as there will be a requirement to complete various reporting and administrative tasks
About You
  • have experience in security operations with supervisory responsibility
  • be confident managing incidents in high-pressure environments
  • be calm, decisive, and able to take control in emergencies
  • have experience managing staff performance and operational issues
  • be strong in communication, report writing, and incident documentation
  • understand investigations, evidence handling, and basic legal principles
  • be organised with strong planning and resource management skills
  • hold a SIA Door Supervisor licence and CCTV License (or willing to obtain a CCTV License when you start)
  • hold a full UK driving licence and be able to work on an on-call rota

The ability to build effective working relationships with staff and partners is essential – ensuring the correct balance of support as well as providing professional direction.
