We are seeking an enthusiastic, resourceful, hardworking Apparel Assistant Buyer to grow with the company and add value to our team. Experience at an Assistant Buyer level is necessary, as is an exceptional eye for detail, the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across all areas of the business.

What you'll be doing
  • Assisting in seasonal range plan development - analysing customer buying patterns, forecasting sales and predicting future trends, presenting findings in reports and presentations in a clear and logical format, including ratio calculations for size and colour;
  • Buying for three key territories: the UK, EU, and North America.
  • Working with your Head of Buying to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices.
  • Regularly reviewing stock, sales, and orders, and reacting with urgency to ensure sales, stock, and profit targets are achieved;
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers.
  • Liaising with other departments within the organization to ensure project completion;
  • Participating in promotional activities, helping the buying and merchandising team identify slow-moving stock, suggesting markdowns or promotions, and coordinating promotional events in store;
  • Creating style books for products, updating trim labels, fabrications, and packaging, and liaising with graphic designers to ensure a consistent brand image;
  • Managing the critical path, monitoring all orders from initial product development to delivery, ensuring smooth process flow, maintaining schedules, and meeting deadlines;
  • Managing the sample process to ensure designs and fabrications meet brand requirements;
  • Handling lab dip and trim approvals, providing feedback to suppliers;
  • Training and mentoring the BAA team member.
  • Approving PTS for shipments.
  • Attending fit meetings with QC, offering suggestions on fit, styling, trims, and signing off samples.
We would love to meet someone with
  • Relevant experience at Assistant Buyer level within an own buy retailer;
  • Experience managing the critical path for your department;
  • Awareness of competitors and maintaining MW as the best value on the high street;
  • Confidence to suggest product types and quantities based on the budgeted OTB;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships with colleagues and suppliers;
  • Proficiency in IT, especially Excel or equivalent;
  • Market awareness and understanding of trends and changes in demand;
  • Ability to understand customer needs and demands (price, quality, availability);
  • Strong time management skills and prioritization abilities.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary and benefits package;
  • 50% staff discount and 25% for family and friends.
