We are seeking an enthusiastic, resourceful, hardworking Apparel Assistant Buyer to grow with the company and add value to our team. Experience at an Assistant Buyer level is necessary, as is an exceptional eye for detail, the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across all areas of the business.

What you'll be doing
  • Assisting in seasonal range plan development - analysing customer buying patterns, forecasting sales, and predicting future trends, presenting findings in reports and presentations in a clear and logical format. This includes ratio calculations for size and colour.
  • Buying for three key territories: the UK, EU, and North America.
  • Working with your Head of Buying to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices.
  • Regularly reviewing stock, sales, and orders, and reacting with urgency to ensure sales, stock, and profit targets are achieved.
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers.
  • Liaising with other departments within the organization to ensure project completion.
  • Participating in promotional activities, helping the buying and merchandising team identify slow-moving stock, suggesting markdowns or promotions, and coordinating promotional and clearance events in store.
  • Creating style books for products, updating trim labels, fabrications, and packaging as needed, and liaising with graphic designers to ensure consistent branding.
  • Managing the critical path, monitoring all orders from product development to delivery, ensuring smooth progress, maintaining schedules and deadlines.
  • Managing the sample process to ensure designs and fabrications meet brand requirements.
  • Approving lab dips and trims, providing feedback to suppliers.
  • Training and mentoring the BAA team member.
  • Approving PTS for shipments.
  • Attending fit meetings with QC, suggesting improvements on fit, styling, and trims, and signing off samples.
We would love to meet someone with
  • Relevant experience at Assistant Buyer level within an own-brand retailer.
  • Experience managing the critical path for your department.
  • Awareness of competitors and efforts to keep MW the best value on the high street.
  • Confidence to suggest product types and quantities based on the budgeted OTB.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships with colleagues and suppliers; communication is key.
  • Proficiency in IT, especially Excel or equivalent.
  • Market awareness of trends and demand changes.
  • Understanding customer needs regarding price, quality, and availability.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • 50% staff discount and 25% for family and friends.

In 1997, Mountain Warehouse was launched to make the outdoors accessible to everyone by offering value-for-money products and excellent customer service. The outdoor industry had become jargon-heavy, and we aimed to create a brand that caters to everyone from mothers and neighbors’ kids to seasoned professionals who understand the technology.

Since then, our expansion has grown the brand and evolved our products, but the small family business that makes MW special remains. Great products are at the heart of everything we do. As we expand internationally, we employ a diverse team dedicated to providing our customers with the best possible experience in stores, online, and through our range.
