About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our team within Core Stationery. You will support the Buying Manager in sourcing and purchasing high-quality products, providing our customers with the best offers, range, and prices.
Responsibilities
- Support supplier performance management, identify potential new suppliers, and help build long-term supplier relationships.
- Assist in developing a long-term, customer-led category plan to drive loyalty.
- Conduct regular store and website visits, review customer insights and trends, and help shape future product ranges.
- Help build and source customer and market insights to inform product innovation.
- Negotiate with suppliers under the guidance of your manager to improve trading positions sustainably.
- Support the delivery of departmental trade, promotions, marketing, and events to exceed KPIs and increase footfall.
- Collaborate with Tesco Business Services and Supply Chain to ensure timely product availability across channels.
- Work with suppliers and the quality team to maintain product quality standards.
- Manage commercial income, ensure correct invoicing, and handle over-charges, under-charges, and aged debt weekly.
- Brief, develop, and manage artwork and POS materials.
- Adhere to Tesco policies, storage, handover protocols, and complete all required training.
- Manage GHS setup.
