Job summary

Bupa UK in Salford is recruiting an Assistant Buyer for a full-time, 37.5-hour role with hybrid working (up to 3 days from home). The position supports sourcing activities across procurement categories and helps deliver value, supplier evaluation and commercial insights.

Ideal candidates will have administrative experience, procurement exposure, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work with data and reporting tools.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced administrative role is essential.
  • Experience within a buying/procurement function would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial awareness is important.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly.
  • Experience building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Negotiation or contract administration experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support sourcing activities across one or more procurement categories.
  • Help develop and maintain category plans that identify opportunities for savings and improvements.
  • Carry out market research and supplier benchmarking to support category strategies.
  • Assist with supplier selection and tender activities, helping to achieve the best outcomes for Bupa.
  • Support pre-qualification processes, supplier evaluations and commercial reviews.
  • Prepare procurement reporting dashboards and provide data-driven insights.
  • Coordinate supplier due diligence activities and make sure required documentation is completed on time.
  • Manage procurement administration activities, including maintaining supplier and contract records.
  • Support contract drafting activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote procurement best practice across the organisation.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.
