Job description

My client is a successful and over-subscribed prep school seeking an experienced financial or management accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. The position is ideally scheduled to commence in July 2025 to allow for a smooth handover. This is a key role within the School, requiring full-time on-site work from 8am to 5pm, five days a week, at their beautiful premises just outside Abingdon. The working pattern may be negotiable depending on individual circumstances.

The role will be part of a finance team consisting of three members, including the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and the Bursary Administrator.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate most of the following characteristics:

• 2+ years' experience in a mid-level financial or management accounting role
• Working towards an accounting qualification
• Experience in the independent schools sector
• Previous use of WCBS PASS for financial processing or experience with another financial system
• Ability to quickly learn a wide range of financial processes and use initiative to address gaps in knowledge
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
• Experience supporting management in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent command of English for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Highly literate, self-motivated, and proactive
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
