Job summary

Jewson, part of Stark UK, is seeking a Branch Supervisor to lead daily branch operations from Monday to Friday with Saturdays on rota. You will build strong customer relationships, drive sales and coach a local team to deliver outstanding service.

With previous sales or supervisory experience in building materials, you’ll optimise branch performance, ensure safety standards, manage stock and deliveries, and contribute to profitable growth within a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales or supervisory roles, ideally in building materials.
• Strong customer service mindset with relationship-building skills.
• Experience leading or supporting a team to achieve goals.
• Commercial awareness with ability to grow sales and profitability.
• Confident communicator, able to motivate and manage challenges.
• Organised with IT literacy and workload prioritisation.
• Commitment to Health & Safety and compliance; full UK driving licence required.
• Forklift licence and building materials knowledge advantageous.

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:30-1700, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the branch, stepping in to lead the team whenever required.
• Building strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing expert advice to deliver outstanding service.
• Driving sales by developing new business, growing existing accounts and re-engaging lapsed customers.
• Coaching, motivating and developing colleagues to create a high-performing, customer-focused team.
• Using local market knowledge to identify opportunities and support branch sales and profitability.
• Ensuring the branch operates safely, efficiently and in line with company policies and procedures.
• Managing stock, coordinating customer deliveries and helping maintain excellent product availability.
• Monitoring branch performance against key targets, including sales, margin, customer satisfaction and operational compliance.
• Championing Health & Safety and creating a positive culture where colleagues and customers come first.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a sales or supervisory role, ideally within the building materials, merchanting or trade sector.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and building long-term customer relationships.
• Experience leading, coaching or supporting a team to achieve shared goals.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities to grow sales and improve branch performance.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and manage challenging situations.
• Organised with good IT skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and operational compliance.
• A full UK driving licence is essential. Forklift licence, people management experience and knowledge of building materials are advantageous.
