Job summary

Arup in Cardiff is seeking an assistant BIM Designer to join the Mid-West PSI Structures BIM Team. You will help set up project models, work with Revit and AutoCAD, and deliver structural models and drawings for a range of sectors across the UK and internationally.

Reporting to the Group BIM Manager, you will collaborate with engineers and project managers to define deliverables, schedules and digital workflows.

Qualifications

• Level 4 or higher in an engineering/architecture field.
• EngTech qualification or willingness to pursue.
• Experience in a structural/civil engineering consultancy.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD for model/drawing production.
• Interpret sketches and produce drawings with limited guidance.
• Balance technician resources with project needs.

Responsibilities

• Set up new project models in accordance with project standards.
• Support project team with technical delivery using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Produce structural models and drawings.
• Coordinate and federate model data using Autodesk Forma.
• Engage with team to support development of the group.
• Attend internal and external coordination meetings.
• Contribute to development of digital workflows.

The Mid-West PSI Structures BIM Team are looking for an assistant BIM Designer to join our dynamic and innovative team. We work on a variety of exciting projects in various sectors including aviation, health care, data centres, education, commercial, industrial, rail and sport both in the UK and internationally.

The role would ideally be based in the Cardiff Office, which forms part of our Mid-West geography and includes offices in Birmingham, Bristol and Nottingham; you will regularly interface with teams across this region.

Reportingto the Group BIMManager, you will be a key member of this multi-disciplinary and versatile team.Your skills will be instrumental in understanding and delivering high-quality Building Information Models. You will be working with the Project Manager, BIM Manager and discipline Engineers to define deliverables, schedules and implement these within the model.

Responsibilities

• Setting up new project models in accordance with project standards.
• Supporting the project team with technical delivery using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Producing structural models and drawings.
• Coordinating / federating model data utilising Autodesk Forma software
• Engaging with other members of the team to support the development of the group.
• Attendance to both internal and external (when required), coordination meetings.
• Contributing to the development of digital workflows.

Is this role right for you?

Requirements

• Level 4 (HNC) or higher in an Engineering, Construction, Management, or Architecture related field. (or be about to achieve the qualification).
• Professional qualification (EngTech) with a professional Institution for the discipline or be prepared to work towards and achieve the qualification.
• Experience within a structural/civil engineering consultancy.
• Understanding of model and drawing production using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Preparation of drawings and models with limited guidance, to develop output from sketches provided by Engineers.
• Ability to balance technician resources against project requirements.

Software Knowledge

• Revit and AutoCAD (essential).
• Autodesk Forma, Navisworks, Solibri and Revizto (desirable).
