Job summary

KCR Solutions is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper for a busy multi-entity finance team in Gateshead. You will handle transactional duties and support month-end reporting, gaining exposure across several companies and sectors.

Reporting to the Accounts Manager, you’ll maintain ledgers, process supplier invoices, assist with VAT, balance sheets, and cashflow forecasting while contributing to process improvements and automation. Office-based, 8:00–16:00 or 9:00–17:00.

Qualifications

• Experience with month-end processes and reconciliations.
• Experience working in a multi-entity environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with or experience using Xero would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with sales ledger and purchase ledger processes.
• Processing and reconciling supplier invoices and customer accounts.
• Supporting payment runs and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
• Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities.
• Assisting with the preparation of month end accounts.
• Posting journals, including accruals and prepayments.
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Performing bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities.
• Preparation of VAT returns.
• Supporting fixed asset accounting and asset disposals.
• Assisting with cashflow reporting and forecasting.
• Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Supporting year-end audit requirements as required.
• Ensuring financial data is accurate and maintained to a high standard.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
• Contributing ideas to improve processes and efficiencies through technology and automation.
