Job summary

KCR Solutions in Cramlington is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns while developing your accounting career in a fast-paced environment.

You will handle journals, accruals and cash flow work, assist with stock and ledgers, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounts or finance role.
• Excellent Excel and finance systems skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.
• AAT qualification or studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
• Experience with ERP/integrated accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts.
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns and support compliance.
• Monitor stock-related transactions and inventory reconciliations.
• Process and review purchase ledger and sales ledger information.
• Support cash flow reporting and cash management.
• Produce financial reports and analysis for management.
• Contribute to process improvements across the finance function.

The role

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting compliance requirements.
• Monitoring stock-related transactions and assisting with inventory reconciliations.
• Processing and reviewing purchase ledger and sales ledger information as required.
• Supporting cash flow reporting and cash management activities.
• Producing financial reports and analysis for management.
• Contributing to process improvements across the finance function.

Candidate requirements

• Previous experience within an accounts or finance role.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.
• AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
• Previous experience within the manufacturing sector.
• Knowledge of ERP or integrated accounting systems.
