Job summary

Confidential in Warrington is seeking an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support balance sheets, general ledger accounting and cost allocation within the P&L. You will work closely with senior finance stakeholders to maintain controls and drive process improvements.

The role requires AAT Level 4 qualification or active CIMA/ACCA study, strong Excel skills, and ERP knowledge. Hybrid work is offered with a 3/2 split.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or actively studying CIMA/ACCA.
• Proficient in general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Understanding of VAT.
• Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP with large data sets.
• ERP system knowledge.
• Logistics experience desirable but not essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
• Review and allocate high volumes of transactions in the general ledger.
• Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Analyse aged balances and ensure historic transactions are correctly posted.
• Support improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting.
• Collaborate with operational and finance stakeholders to resolve queries.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes through systems and reporting.
• Handle VAT treatment.
• Prepare analyses using large data sets to support business decisions.
