RH Commercial Vehicles is hiring an Assistant Accountant at our Head Office in Nottingham. The role involves supporting the Management Accountant and Finance Controller, with a clear path for career development.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting knowledge including double-entry and standard accounting practices.
• Experience in an accounts department or standalone role.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation to support a busy finance team.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee stock and expenses, manage ledger and credit card transactions.
• Assist with supplier statement reconciliations, intercompany journals and ledger cleansing.
• Handle general ledger postings and bank reconciliations for multiple entities.
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and drive improvements with new technology.
• Provide holiday cover and assist with various finance projects including AP/AR coverage.

As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Management Accountant and Finance Controller to support the smooth running of our finance function.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Stock & Expenses: Oversee sales and chassis stock balance sheet processes, manage expenses and credit card functions, and process transactions.
• Aged Payable: Working closely with purchase clerks, assisting in supplier statement reconciliations, cleansing the ledger and completing intercompany journals.
• Finance Operations: Handle general ledger cashbook postings, bank reconciliations for multiple companies (including intercompany transactions), and support balance sheet reconciliations.
• Technology & Process Improvement: Help implement new technology and system features, maximising the capabilities of Business Central.
• Ad Hoc Projects & Holiday Cover: Provide occasional holiday cover for team members and assist the Management Accountant & Financial Controller with various finance projects. Also coverage of our AP and AR functions as required.

Role

We need an efficient, detail-focused Assistant Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced finance environment. To excel in this role, you should have:

• Strong Accounting Knowledge – Demonstrated experience of accounting functions, including double entry and accounting standards.
• Experience That Counts – Strong experience in an accounts department/ setting or in a stand-alone role.
• Organisational Excellence – Outstanding time management and prioritisation skills, ensuring you can juggle multiple tasks while supporting the team during busy periods.
• Proactive & Self-Sufficient – The ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate with colleagues across multiple sites.
• Adaptability & Flexibility – A responsive approach to changing business needs and the agility to adjust when required.

• Technical Competency – A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a keen eye for process improvements.
• Previous experience in the commercial vehicles and vehicle rentals industry
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP and Business Central with a high level of Microsoft skills
• Fully Qualified AAT
