Job summary

RG Consultancy in Hindley is recruiting an ambitious Accounts Assistant to join a growing business. You will support day-to-day transactional finance and work closely with the Finance Manager, with opportunities to study towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA.

This role offers full study support, exposure to month-end processes and preparation of journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. A strong Excel skill set and attention to detail are essential.

Are you an ambitious Accounts Assistant looking to take the next step towards becoming a qualified accountant? We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a successful and expanding business in Hindley.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong grounding in transactional finance who is currently studying, or looking to begin studying, AAT, ACCA or CIMA. The business offers study support, hands-on experience across the finance function and genuine opportunities for progression as you develop your qualifications.

The Role

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance department while gaining exposure to month-end and management accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transactional Finance

• Processing high volumes of purchase ledger invoices
• Raising sales invoices and credit notes
• Allocating customer receipts and supplier payments
• Reconciling supplier statements and customer accounts
• Managing invoice queries and resolving discrepancies
• Assisting with credit control and aged debt management

Banking & Cash Management

• Daily bank postings and reconciliations
• Monitoring cash receipts and payments
• Assisting with cash flow reporting and forecasting

Assistant Accounting Duties

• Assisting with month-end close procedures
• Preparing journal entries and accruals
• Supporting balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with management accounts preparation
• Maintaining fixed asset registers
• Supporting budgeting and reporting activities
• Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

About You

• Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant role
• Strong understanding of transactional accounting processes
• Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas and data analysis
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Able to manage workloads and meet deadlines
• Studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or keen to commence professional studies
