Role overview

This role is responsible for centralising, reviewing, and reporting all insurer-related financial activities across entities within the Bspoke Group. The purpose is to ensure robust financial control and oversight by embedding consistent processes and procedures, enabling accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective management of insurer relationships and balances.

Key Accountabilities

• Receipt and processing of third-party Finance bordereaux as required.
• Reporting and payment of premium and claims bordereaux to all Capacity Providers in the Bspoke Group.
• Management and ongoing oversight of claims floats provided by insurers to Bspoke Group entities, including floats provided to third parties and associated reconciliations.
• Produce and maintain reconciliations of all insurer-related balances within the Group, including insurer trust accounts and Insurance Broker Account (IBA) reconciliations.
• Maintain oversight of IBA liquidity across the Group in line with insurer TOBAs, including weekly cash sweeps.
• Ownership of the insurance balance sheet for entities across the Bspoke Group.
• Production and maintenance of reconciliations between broking/MI systems, the financial ledger, and monthly bordereaux for all systems and entities.
• Monthly production of insurer-based payments and reconciliation of insurer receipts for all entities across the Group.
• Liaise with external insurer contacts and internal stakeholders to resolve bordereaux, premium, and claims-related queries.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with CASS, specifically insurer risk transfer requirements.
• Support the Financial Controller and Financial Accountant with ad hoc insurer analysis, compliance activities, and other duties as required.
• Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement, including process automation and efficiency enhancements.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal control documentation, ensuring alignment with best practices.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting systems and controls, supporting overall financial governance.
• Provide financial control advice to support the achievement of company objectives.
• Demonstrate and reinforce the company’s vision and values through actions and behaviours.
• Provide flexible support across the team, including cover for colleagues and additional tasks to support departmental efficiency.

Skills & Experience

• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing and reviewing financial data, with a strong commitment to data integrity.
• Proactive & Organised: Strong time management skills, able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate good communication skills both oral and written in reconciliations and analyses.
• Moderate to high level of knowledge of Microsoft packages – notably Excel
• Eager to Learn & Develop: Demonstrates curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement—both personally and in terms of process efficiency.
• An ability to work as part of a team or independently as required
• An ability to communicate effectively with customers including other Company members
• Insurance Industry Awareness (Desirable): Some understanding of or interest in the insurance sector, including familiarity with industry-specific terminology or systems (e.g. policy systems, regulatory context).
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret numbers, spot trends or anomalies, and support decision-making with insightful analysis.
• Understanding of Financial Controls: Appreciation of internal controls, reconciliations, and compliance—especially important in a regulated industry like insurance

Qualifications

Desire to pursue professional qualifications ACCA/CIMA.

Insurance market knowledge - Familiarity with delegated underwriting arrangements, capacity provider reporting, TOBAs, or bordereaux processing systems.

Experience with Regulatory Reporting - Understanding of FCA, CASS, and risk transfer regulations specific to insurance intermediaries.
