Job summary

Search is recruiting an Assistant Accountant in Edinburgh with a hybrid working arrangement. The role offers exposure to management accounting, financial control and business reporting within a growing finance team.

You will develop technical accounting skills while contributing to process improvements and reporting across the organisation. Responsibilities include month-end activities, reconciliations, supplier invoices, and supporting with financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance or accounting environment.
• Understanding of reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Strong Excel skills with data handling.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem solving.
• Strong communication and collaborative approach.
• Experience with Power BI/Power Query is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end reporting activities, including journals and reconciliations.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Contribute to financial reporting and control processes.
• Process supplier invoices, employee expenses and payment runs.
• Respond to finance-related queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Maintain supplier records and ensure accurate financial data.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.

Search are supporting the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant to join a growing organisation in Edinburgh with hybrid working. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to move beyond transactional finance and gain broader exposure to management accounting, financial control and business reporting.

Working within a supportive and collaborative finance team, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills while contributing to projects that improve processes, controls and reporting across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting month-end reporting activities, including journals, accruals and reconciliations
• Completing balance sheet, ledger and suspense account reconciliations and investigating variances
• Assisting with financial reporting and control processes across the finance function
• Processing supplier invoices, employee expenses and payment runs
• Managing finance-related queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Supporting finance projects and process improvement initiatives
• Maintaining supplier records and ensuring accurate financial data
• Helping identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and automation

Skills and experience that will benefit your application:
