Job summary

We are offering an apprenticeship for an Assistant Accountant Level 3 in Rowley Regis, with 30 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9:30-16:00). Start date 1 September 2026, duration 1 year 3 months, 57 High Street, Rowley Regis, B65 0EH.

You will train on the job with hands-on experience, data entry for accounts and VATs, and study toward AAT qualifications through HALESOWEN COLLEGE.

Qualifications

  • Essential qualifications: English (grade C/4) and Maths (grade C/4).
  • You will study towards AAT qualification and attend college one day per week.

  • Data input to prepare accounts and VATs for various clients, overseen by senior staff.
  • Organise incoming books, maintain up-to-date files, and answer phones/door.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and present financial information clearly.

Summary


Working with us, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in communication, administration, and bookkeeping in a professional and courteous manner. We are a small team and therefore you are guaranteed one-on-one learning to support you throughout the process.


Wage


£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work


Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you’ll do at work

With support and guidance, you will be expected to data input in the appropriate software to prepare accounts and VATs for a variety of different businesses, which is monitored by senior staff.


You will be responsible for organising incoming books, maintaining up-to-date files and answering the telephone/door.

What you’ll learn

  • Assist with the investigation of, and response to, financial information queries.

  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.

  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements, and report financial information to users of accounts.

  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.

  • Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.

  • Investigate, resolve, or upscale transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.

  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.

  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.

  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

  • Communicate using a range of approaches and media, with an understanding of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule

Assistant Accountant Level 3 Standard which includes a AAT Diploma in Accounting.


You will be expected to attend college 1 day per week to work towards your AAT qualification. In addition, you will be allocated with an assessor who will visit you within the workplace once every 6-8 weeks.
