Technique Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a North Norfolk plastics manufacturer to recruit an Asset Tool Care Technician. The role involves installation, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of multi cavity injection mould tools to support maximum productivity and high-quality output.

Candidates should have experience with injection moulding, Tool Room duties, and a proactive approach to safety and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Experience in tool maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Engineering qualification or certified national competence is desirable.
  • Proven experience with injection moulding tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair multi cavity injection mould tools to maximise uptime.
  • Record and document maintenance procedures and repair work.
  • Calibrate precision tools to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production, planning and QA/QHSE teams to meet KPIs.
  • Assist in tool modifications, refurbishment and replacement as required.

Job description

Asset Tool Care Technician

Our client are a global supplier of innovative and sustainable plastic packaging solutions based in North Norfolk. They have a new opportunity for a Asset Tool Care Technician ideally with experience in injection moulding machines to join them

Purpose: The Plastics Tool Care engineer / technician role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, modification, repair and refurbishment of multi cavity injection mould tools to assist the company in achieving maximum productivity and optimum customer service at all times. The tool care personnel work closely with production, maintenance, setting and technical departments.

This could be offered as a full or part time position - Hours up to 40 hours per week- however can be 24 or 32 hours per week with a flexible working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate

Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Health and Safety awareness ensuring a zero accident mentality following all legal and company procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks, and report any safety hazards or concerns to the Tool Room Team Leader
  • Tool Care performance to plan including recording, resolving and escalating issues to meet defined Quality Criteria.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of multi cavity injection mould tools and equipment, to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of tools and equipment as needed for maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts.
  • Tool installation as per specifications and procedures to meet KPIs
  • Assist in the calibration of precision tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards
  • Provide modifications, including repair and refurbishment as required to cavity injection mould tools
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with tools and equipment, and perform repairs as necessary to minimise downtime and production delays.
  • Maintenance of a safe, clean, organise tools and equipment in the tool room to ensure they are readily accessible and in proper working order.
  • Completion and maintain detailed documentation of all tool-related activities, including maintenance procedures, repair records, and other relevant information.in a legible manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues within the tool room team, as well as production, engineering, planning and QHSE department, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge in tool maintenance, repair, and safety practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Health and Safety awareness.
  • Technical certification or vocational training in tool maintenance or related field is preferred.
  • Engineering qualification at approved and certified national competence
  • Proven experience as a Tool Room Technician or similar role with Injection moulding experience desirable
  • Knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment, including machining tools, cutting tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • GCSE passes at average or above level in Maths and English or equivalent is essential
  • Process control.
  • Continuous improvement techniques including Problem Solving to deliver projects
Dimensions:
  • Physical Attributes:
    • Lifting: frequent lifting and carrying materials
    • Standing: Sustained periods of standing during 8 hour shift Visual: Required to have visual acuity to perform tasks such as operating machines and ensuring quality products are completed through visual inspection.
    • Colour blindness test to be completed. For all other physical attributes, risk assessments are carried out.
