Job summary

Vercity is seeking a professional Asset Manager to protect and enhance a major infrastructure contract. On-site in Hertfordshire, you will lead lifecycle investment plans and asset renewal programmes, ensuring compliance, value, and long-term performance across the estate.

You will act as the technical advisor to the Authority, FM providers, and contractors, driving data-led decisions and improving asset integrity while managing budgets and reporting to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Confident of DV security accreditation to the highest level.
• Proven asset management experience in complex estates, infrastructure or defence settings.
• Strong track record delivering lifecycle, capital projects, asset replacement, or major maintenance programmes.
• Technical understanding of building services and engineering assets (M&E).
• Experience managing contractors, service providers, and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate asset risks, defects and performance issues across the portfolio.
• Manage lifecycle budgets, forecasts, and reporting for senior stakeholders and Boards.
• Champion best practice in asset management, governance, sustainability and continuous improvement.

Vercity are looking for a professional, proactive and commercially minded Asset Manager to play a pivotal role in protecting and enhancing a major infrastructure contract on one of the UK's most important assets. Working on site in Hertfordshire, you'll lead the planning and delivery of asset investment programmes while ensuring compliance, value, and long-term asset performance.

The Role:

• Own and deliver the lifecycle strategy, investment plans, and asset renewal programmes across the estate.
• Lead lifecycle, capital replacement, and improvement projects from concept through to completion.
• Drive asset performance through effective condition monitoring, maintenance reviews, and data-led decision making.
• Act as the key technical advisor to the Authority, FM providers, consultants, and contractors.
• Challenge and manage contract variations, ensuring asset integrity, compliance, and value for money.
• Identify, mitigate, and resolve asset risks, defects, and performance issues across the portfolio.
• Manage lifecycle budgets, forecasts, and reporting, providing clear insight to senior stakeholders and Boards.
• Champion best practice in asset management, governance, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

The Person:

• Confident of security accreditation to the highest level - DV
• Proven asset management experience within complex estates, infrastructure, defence, engineering, FM, or PFI environments.
• Strong track record of delivering lifecycle, capital projects, asset replacement, or major maintenance programmes.
• Technical understanding of building services and engineering assets, including M&E systems.
• Experience managing contractors, service providers, and senior stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent commercial, analytical, and reporting skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at senior level.
• Degree-qualified in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, Asset Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership and PFI experience are advantageous.
