Job summary

The Wallich is seeking an outreach worker to engage with street homeless individuals across Pembrokeshire, providing practical support, guidance and referrals to help secure accommodation and address housing and related challenges.

The role requires Enhanced DBS clearance and a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle, with on-call duties as part of the rota. 37.5 hours per week, based in Haverfordwest, Wales.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS disclosure required.
  • Driving Licence and use of a vehicle is essential.
  • Experience in outreach work with rough sleepers/homeless populations would be advantageous.

  • Coordinate and provide support to enable service users to address housing and personal difficulties.
  • Work to secure meaningful engagement and improved outcomes, including guidance and referrals.

Job description

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00 with flexibility.

You will also be required to take part in an on call rota between 5pm-10pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on weekends to assist with coordinating packs and accommodation in severe weather conditions. Your hours of work during any weeks where this occurs will be adjusted to ensure that you are only working your total contracted hours, or you can accrue TOIL.

Project Description

The project operates across Pembrokeshire, identifying and working with individuals that are sleeping rough. The service operates flexibly across 7 days offering humanitarian aid in the form of food provision, issue of sleeping bags, warm clothing and toiletries and by helping to resolve issues, such as housing, healthcare, financial and substance misuse, by offering advice, guidance through a range of support and referrals to relevant specialist services. The service will be especially beneficial for clients who are, leading extremely chaotic lifestyles as they are able to meet and engage with Assertive Outreach Workers on a regular basis.

Purpose of Role

The post will engage with Service Users who are Street homeless or sleeping in buildings not designed for habitation.

To proactively provide outreach support and interventions to People who are street homeless in an assertive manner to secure meaningful engagement bringing about sustained and improved outcomes. To coordinate and provide support that enables and empowers Service Users to address housing and/or personal difficulties, build their skills and confidence, and ultimately improve their ability to access and maintain accommodation. Support will help people improve their control, understanding and involvement in dealing with the issues that affect them, and assist Service Users to achieve their preferred outcomes.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
