Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking an Assembly Technician to assemble, test and perform pre-release inspection of OE and R&O control unit equipment across military and civil platforms. The role demands precision, traceability and compliance in a skilled manufacturing environment.

Job Description Summary

As an Assembly Technician in the aerospace industry, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and pre-release inspection of OE and R&O control unit equipment across a range of platforms for both military and civil customers. Working within a skilled, precision-focused environment, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant products on time, ensuring product safety, regulatory adherence, and customer satisfaction.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assemble products in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and defined build instructions.
  • Set up and operate test rigs to perform production acceptance testing, accurately recording and reporting results.
  • Use manual and automated test equipment to verify product performance and diagnose faults.
  • Investigate and resolve non‑conformances, collaborating with engineering, quality, and other support functions to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Interpret and follow detailed work instructions and complex assembly and test drawings with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain a high standard of product quality, ensuring full traceability, documentation accuracy, and compliance with all relevant procedures and regulations throughout the build and test process.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly and/or testing within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong ability to interpret and use technical documentation, including detailed manuals, drawings, and work instructions
  • Minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient PC skills, including the use of standard office and production‑related software
  • Eligible to work in the UK, with valid Right to Work documentation
