Job summary

GE Aerospace in Norwich is seeking a hands-on assembler to follow process sheets, assemble parts, and conduct electrical and mechanical tests. You will set up fixtures, assist with proto-type builds, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Requirements include 1 year manufacturing experience and a High School Diploma or GED. Willingness to obtain solder, braze and ESD certifications is expected, with adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts according to process sheets and prints.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and dielectric testing as needed.
  • Set up fixtures and perform in-process hi-pot testing.
  • Assist with layout procedure and process sheet improvements.
  • Review material expiration dates and ensure current supplies.
  • Support cross-functional teams and communicate process changes.
  • Document labor and perform basic Oracle transactions.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and GE leadership behaviors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Education or GED equivalency.
  • 1 year manufacturing experience.
  • Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools (crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment, etc.) and measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to operate high temperature ovens and furnaces.
  • Ability and willingness to pass Visual Acuity Exam as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Solder, Braze, and Electro-Static discharge certification as required.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Assemble parts according to process sheet/print instructions.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, magnetic testing as required (i.e. - dielectric, meggar, hipot, etc.)
  • Perform in-process hi-pot testing; Perform basic set up of fixtures.
  • Perform vapor blasting as required; Perform inventory counts and verification. Assist with proto-type or first time builds with guidance from higher level employees.
  • Assist Engineering and/or Team in development and/or improvement of layout procedures and process sheets.
  • Review expiration date of materials to ensure materials & equipment to ensure all are current.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products,
  • Possess inspection stamp as required.
  • Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
  • Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation.
  • Perform basic Oracle transactions as required.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and/or issues. May interact with internal cross-functional teams (i.e. - planning)
  • May act as primary contact for auditors.
  • May require FAA certification.
  • Perform troubleshooting responsibilities.
  • Participates in and support team initiatives.
  • Utilizes proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Understands and abides by the GE Leadership behaviors.
  • Other duties as be required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience
  • Assembly, solder experience and/or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a self-directed teaming environment.
  • Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing knowledge.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to continuously sit; ability to occasionally lift to 20 lbs.; ability to push/pull up to 22 lbs.

This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations, working with chemicals, and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

The pay for this position is $21.50/hr. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 10/31/26.
