Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is sourcing an Assembly Operative for our production team in Chelmsford. You will carry out mechanical and electro‑mechanical assembly, following drawings and procedures while using a range of hand tools and testing equipment.

The role includes soldering and wire crimping of delicate components, with a focus on quality and safety. The position offers weekly pay, an immediate start and potential progression from temporary to permanent employment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with wire crimping of small/ delicate components.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products and components according to drawings and procedures.
  • Perform mechanical and electro‑mechanical assembly to required standards.
  • Carry out wire preparation and crimping for small components.
  • Undertake soldering using lead‑free techniques.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment safely.
  • Conduct basic electrical testing and inspection.
  • Ensure work meets quality standards and is documented correctly.
  • Move materials using lifting equipment and pallet trucks safely.

Job Title: Assembly Operative

Location: Chelmsford

Pay Rate: £13ph + Holiday, Pension and Adecco Benefits

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 6:30am - 3:30pm, Friday: 6:30am - 12:30pm

Overtime may be required to meet production demands. Temporary to Permanent - Immediate Start

We are seeking a reliable and conscientious Assembly Operative to join our production team. As a manufacturing business, we undertake a wide variety of assembly projects for our customers, meaning no two days are the same. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly work to a high standard while following production documentation, quality procedures, and health and safety requirements. This role would suit an individual who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working on a range of assembly tasks involving mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble products and components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and production procedures.
  • Carry out mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly operations to the required quality standards.
  • Perform wire preparation and crimping, including small and delicate assemblies.
  • Undertake soldering tasks using lead-free soldering techniques.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, assembly equipment, and testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Conduct basic electrical testing and inspection activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and meets customer and company quality standards.
  • Use lifting equipment and pallet trucks safely when moving materials and finished products.
Essential Experience
  • Using general mechanical assembly tools.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Experience of wire crimping, including handling small and delicate components.
