Job summary

Questech Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Semi Skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a high-precision manufacturing team in Shipley, West Yorkshire. The role involves assembling machinery from engineering drawings, fitting transformers, switch gears, and various mechanical components.

You will prepare components for painting, maintain tight tolerances (down to 0.5 microns), and work on staggered day shifts with options from 06:00–15:30. Permanent, full-time position with competitive annual pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in high-precision manufacturing.
• Experience in assembly fitting is essential.
• Ability to maintain tolerances to 0.5 microns.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the assembly of machinery and equipment from drawings.
• Assemble transformers, switch gears and pressure release devices.
• Prepare components for painting and post-paint finishing.
• Prepare painted components prior to assembly, such as re-tapping, reaming and cleaning machine surfaces.
• Mark off, drill and tap.
• Fit exterior equipment: nameplates, labels, guard switches, guardings, hydraulic hoses, auxiliary pumps.
• Route steel and nylon pipework as directed.
• Unpack parts and equipment.
• Fit non-electrical machine services prior to testing.
• Use sealants as directed.
• Perform non-electrical stripping of machines prior to dispatch.
• Assist in loading and unloading of equipment onto wagons as directed.
• Complete all shift documentation required during assembly of component.

• Prepare painted components prior to assembly, such as re-tapping, reaming and cleaning machine surfaces.
• Mark off, drill and tap.
• Fit exterior equipment: nameplates, labels, guard switches, guardings, hydraulic hoses, auxiliary pumps.
• Route steel and nylon pipework as directed.
• Unpack parts and equipment.

Hours

Staggered day shift – choose one of the following fixed shift times:

• 06:00 – 14:00
• 06:30 – 14:30
• 07:00 – 15:00
• 07:30 – 15:30

Pay

Annual pay rate: £29,750 – £35,932 per annum.

Skilled Fitters (NVQ L3 or equivalent): £35,932 per annum.

Semi- Skilled Fitters (no NVQ L3 or less experience): £29,750 per annum.
