Job summary

Connex Education is seeking Unqualified Teaching Assistants to join primary schools in Taunton from September 2026. You will support teachers with learning activities, help individual pupils and small groups, and help create a positive, engaging classroom environment.

This role offers flexible daily supply work, short-term placements, and longer-term assignments, with DBS checks and right to work in the UK required. Training and progression opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Connex Education.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to encourage participation
• Assist in creating a positive and engaging learning environment
• Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
• Promote positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing
• Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
