Job summary

Milk Education is supporting a welcoming SEN school in Woking, Surrey, seeking an Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist to join from September 2026. This role offers 1:1 and small group work with pupils who have SLD and ASD, providing opportunities to develop SLT skills in a school setting.

You will work under qualified Speech & Language Therapists and teachers, gaining valuable experience while pursuing a career in Speech & Language Therapy, with ongoing CPD and support from Milk Academy.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject.
  • Passionate about pursuing a career in Speech & Language Therapy.
  • Interested in supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Patient, empathetic, resilient, and reliable.
  • Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Strong communicator in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to commit to a full academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Support pupils with SLD, Autism (ASD), sensory needs, physical disabilities and additional learning needs.
  • Deliver communication-focused activities and interventions under guidance of teachers and SLTs.
  • Encourage development of pupils’ communication, social interaction, confidence, and independence.
  • Support pupils who use AAC and other communication strategies.
  • Assist with implementing individual communication and behaviour support plans.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, SENCOs and families to provide consistent support.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to the wider team.
  • Help create a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Full-Time | SEN School | Long-Term Opportunity

Milk Education is working with a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Woking, Surrey that is looking for an Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about speech, language and communication who is hoping to pursue a career in Speech & Language Therapy. You’ll gain invaluable school-based experience supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, and communication needs, while working alongside experienced teachers and qualified Speech & Language Therapists.

About the Role

As an Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist, you will:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with speech, language, and communication needs
  • Support pupils with SLD, Autism (ASD), sensory needs, physical disabilities, and additional learning needs
  • Deliver communication-focused activities and interventions under the guidance of teachers and Speech & Language Therapists

  • Support pupils who use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and other communication strategies

  • Help create a calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A graduate in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education, Childhood Studies, or a related subject
  • Passionate about pursuing a career in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Interested in supporting children and young people with SEND
  • Patient, empathetic, resilient, and reliable
  • Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Able to commit to a full academic year

Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs is beneficial but not essential.
