Job summary

SWARCO ITS in Melsonby is offering a trainee Production Test & Quality Inspector role. You will learn to inspect and test electrical, mechanical and electro‑mechanical products while working with production and engineering teams to support quality assurance.

As you progress, you’ll undertake more independent testing tasks and contribute to improving product quality and manufacturing processes. A hands‑on role with a focus on safety, documentation and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Good attention to detail and pride in producing work to a high standard.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take part in training.
• The ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Good communication skills and a positive, team‑focused approach.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to inspect and test electrical, mechanical and electro‑mechanical products.
• Assist with functional testing and checking products against drawings, specs and quality standards.
• Record test results accurately and maintain quality documentation and photographs.
• Identify faults and support troubleshooting and repairs with experienced colleagues.
• Ensure products are labelled, documented and ready for dispatch.
• Learn to use testing equipment safely and correctly.
• Support production assembly activities, including cable preparation, wiring and sub‑assembly work.
• Assist with PCB assembly and repair tasks where training provided.
• Follow work instructions, quality procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
• Keep the work area clean, safe and organised.
• Share ideas to improve product quality and processes.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to build knowledge.
