Job summary

SWARCO is looking for a dedicated Trainee Production Tester / Quality Inspector to join our Melsonby site. This hands-on training role develops skills in testing, inspection and quality assurance within engineering and manufacturing contexts.

You’ll learn from experienced colleagues, progress toward independent testing, and contribute to documenting results, labelling products, and preparing items for dispatch while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Keen to learn with the right attitude and a willingness to develop practical engineering or manufacturing skills.
• Willingness to participate in training and develop new testing abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a production environment.
• Good communication and a team-focused approach.
• Basic literacy and numeracy; basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Ability to complete paperwork and records accurately.
• Reliable, organised and proactive with an interest in quality.
• Previous experience isn’t essential but helpful in manufacturing or quality settings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test electrical, mechanical and electro‑mechanical products.
• Assist with functional testing and verify against drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Record test results accurately and maintain quality documentation and photos.
• Identify faults and support troubleshooting and repairs.
• Ensure correct labeling and readiness for dispatch.
• Learn to use testing equipment safely and correctly.
• Support production assembly activities including cable preparation, wiring and sub‑assembly work.
• PCB assembly and repair tasks where training has been provided.
